In 2013 and 2014, West refocused its efforts on providing high quality competency based online education so it redesigned its curriculum, lowered its tuition price to a flat $250 rate for undergraduate programs ($350 graduate – less than half the cost of schools like DeVry University and Grand Canyon University), and closed its campus locations passing that savings on to students. The new era at Western International University allows it to be more nimble in providing career relevant higher education and competitive tuition rates and in a format that is most convenient for its students. Students have access to a third party bookstore on MyWest (MyWIU), but as with most University bookstore partners, users will usually pay a little more for this convenience. As an alternative, students may choose buy textbooks (or rent them!) from alternative sources such as Amazon.com or through private parties. We like Amazon.com for textbook purchases due to their reputation and massive support infrastructure. Used textbooks, ebooks, and even textbook rentals are available via their site and Amazon prime members may be eligible for free shipping on textbooks!
